As daffodils and crocuses are here, hope and love are in the air and what better time to say ‘hello’.

From pre-Covid weddings to delivering Afternoon Teas throughout Covid and now to fully blown dinner parties, weddings, buffets and anything else that I can fit in! I am so pleased and proud of the fact that one person can achieve rather a lot.

Running a business on your own is hard work but it is also rewarding. You meet some amazingly kind people and get the chance to create some delicious dining experiences.

Bringing the dining experience to you is a real buzz! The car is fully loaded and I am not entirely sure what the cooker is like, if I have brought enough pots and pans and have I left anything behind ?? I am so pleased I have a four wheel drive… a) to fit everything in and b) some of these holiday cottages are in the middle of nowhere and up a farm track!

Does it all come together, yes it does, I prepare and make everything in front of my guests….fingers crossed! Good produce, locally sourced…tastes the best.

As Mother’s Day and Easter are rapidly approaching, I wish you all good health, happiness, love.

I am often asked whether I get nervous cooking in a strange kitchen with a temperamental or a brand new oven???...well, it is a challenge but bringing a private dining experience to you, your friends and family is well worth it and the answer is ‘no’ I don’t. Every dining experience I bring to you, I am cooking for old friends…I just wish I was invited too.

Food never gets boring! There are so many incredible cooks, chefs and bloggers out there…..I am always learning. Being able to create and develop dishes to suit vegetarian, vegan and strict dietary requirements to safely mix and match each bespoke event is so satisfying.

I am very much looking forward to 2022, as not only will I be continuing with your fine dining experiences but I will also be focusing on my Vintage Wedding Afternoon Teas which are incredible tasty!

Hello, welcome to Fine Dining with Liz, its been a while!

Spring is here, its chilly, the daffs are out and we can all now start seeing each other again, in limited numbers and safely, but that is a huge step! JUST BRING A JUMPER!

It’s has been a busy couple of months for me, as I have being baking and delivery Afternoon Teas under ‘Lizzie Bakes at Home’ …working from home, in my approved kitchen and delivering freshly baked teas locally. This has been incredibly rewarding and I will carry on with my version of Afternoon Teas with seasonal changes.

With my chef’s hat firmly on…I am now very happy to be taking bookings for your freshly made delivered buffets and private dining. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

I hope you are all having a good week….haven’t had to dash back from abroad and haven’t had to cancel your family plans!

Well, earlier this month, I had the pleasure of creating, cooking and delivering a lovely dining experience for two……… a couple who couldn’t make their family reunion and 80th Birthday celebration.

Alice contacted me from her home in France to try and organise something special for her parents and especially her Mum’s 80th Birthday. Well, thanks to ‘Zoom’ and a delivered dinner plus a good bottle of Sancerre, her Mum and Dad did manage to have a great birthday at their home in the UK (not quite the same but lots of love went into it!)

And here’s my review;

“EXCELLENT FOOD FROM A FRIENDLY CHEF WHO WENT THE EXTRA MILE Liz was wonderful. She took great care to understand what was wanted and was friendly and great fun to work with to create a special occasion meal for my parents who were under lock down. They loved the special and delicious food. Liz went the extra mile and come highly recommended …..”

So, there is always a way and hopefully next year, Alice’s Mum and Dad will have their family reunion after all.

I hope you have all had a good week, are keeping well and we are all now wearing face masks, using sanitiser and walking down the wrong isles in the super markets….oops!

Its been a busy couple of weeks for me which is fantastic and the nicest thing about my job is meeting the most amazing people.

Its hard work and walking into a strange kitchen with the occasional dodgy oven, the odd pan, can be a challenge…. but the hosts are always very pleased to meet me and allow me to take over the kitchen, rearrange the fridge and create something special for them!

My car is fully loaded and the time I have prepped and cooked the cooler boxes are empty and hopefully, I have done all the washing up!

Its great fun, I meet terrific people, their families, their friends and most importantly their stories which always makes me smile….its not always about the food…its the moment…the storey ….and the memories and when you get a lovely review like this…its all worthwhile.

First of all I can’t thank you all enough for your support …its been a great weekend selling-out of my Father’s Day chocolate brownies boxes……….chocolate orange.. not just for Christmas… chocolate rolo…..indulgent………..chocolate raspberry & marshmallow ……gorgeous ……..and my kitchen smelt amazing too!

I had the pleasure of making some special cake boxes for people on the move….we can now travel further and meet friends for a walk…so why not take a Cake Box with you or even an Afternoon Tea??

June is my favourite month, the lavender is lush and not only is it my birthday…but also some lovely friends are Geminis too and for a very special young lady I made a bespoke cake box just for her…..

Today I am planning this weekend’s cake boxes and as ‘al fresco’ is on people’s agendas… I thought why not make some pavlovas. These are tricky, meringue is sensitive..it falls apart and goes as sticky as marshmallow…sounds good to me!

Dear All, I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and kept safe and weather permitted enjoyed a walk or two!

Its a very peculiar time in all our lives right now, very frustrating, sad but also I hope inspiring…

I have met some amazing people in my new venture and believe that ‘artisan’ is the only way forward…people are shopping and choosing differently.

June for me, is a month full of Birthdays… including mine…so next week I will be baking something to share with hopefully my family whom I have rarely seen over the past couple of months…..thank goodness for my camera phone…mind you…...I cannot stand looking at myself…who’s that woman with the grey hair?

Freshly baked Victoria Sandwich Cake and Brownie Box for Two

Dear All,

Its been a great week and I cannot thank everyone enough who have supported this little venture and enjoyed my freshly made cakes….not everyone wants one every week..as it is a treat….but a treat you haven’t had to bake!!

I have had some lovely requests to deliver these boxes to old fiends and relatives, sending a virtual wish and hug….which makes such a difference to the receiver…its such a thoughtful thing to do.

Week 2….Cake Boxes

Dear All,

I am happy to announce that following Government and NCASS guidelines; I am now able to make a lovely box of freshly baked cakes for you to enjoy!

Starting from this Monday, I will post a Menu, take your orders by 5pm on Wednesday and arrange for collection or delivery on Friday and Saturdays.

There will only be a limited amount of boxes available.

Hello, I can’t believe its Friday again and the 1st of May…..I hope you are all safe and well….….

I made these scones this week and having made hundreds in the past for Afternoon Teas at a lovely hotel in Harrogate…thought I would treat my neighbours ……I just wish I could enjoy them with a cup of tea with my family too!

Hello, its Friday and welcome to my Blog!

The sun is shining and I should be out there trying to get fit but then I keep thinking …………..what can I bake today?

I am not sure whether anyone has seen the film ‘Shirley Valentine’…this has nothing to do with baking but she does start talking to the WALL……

I have felt a bit like that this week!

So I made this lovely cake and filled it with lots of rich buttercream, strawberry preserve and dressed it with lots of berries, its a perfect cake for any celebration.

This week I couldn’t resist making the most of Easter…….. decorating cakes, cup cakes and batch baking…….as well as loving all the posts from around the world with home decorated Easter eggs, hot cross buns, amazing bakes and breads………….

Little Bunnies for Little People

This time last year we were all busy being busy….so my walk today gave me a chance to reflect, enjoy the countryside and be very very grateful……….

So passing a huge patch of lovely smelly wild garlic …………..I had to pick some…..wild garlic pesto with freshly made pea soup..……..love that colour!

Wild Garlic Pesto with Pea Soup

Sometimes, making the simplest of things brings a smile …….….

Yesterday, I used my last amount of strong plain flour and was so pleased with the results which even impressed my husband!

This brought me back to Sunday lunches with my family….…Mum made an enormous lunch with fantastic roast beef, cauliflower cheese, fluffy roasted potatoes, massive Yorkshires but the best part of these lunches was the DRIPPING left in the roasting tin……….READY FOR LATER……….. with thinly sliced rare roast beef, plenty of dripping spread on a slice of bread with a good pinch of salt……..thanks Mum & Dad xx

The one thing that always makes me happy when things are not so bright is to bake….but can I suggest we bake twice!….. so, if you are well and self-isolating…….drop that extra bit of baking off to your neighbour and give yourself a hug!!

Creating something special for a new dessert….… is literally putting a new ‘spin’ on an old recipe…which is why most of us see the same or similar recipes yearly in all those lovely foodie magazines… well….. this little beauty always works for me…. soak in warm Calvados or Rum and add your ‘spin’ …
